Where We Started
Good Shepherd began in Minneapolis, Minnesota, born from a simple frustration: the endless cycle of disposable fashion felt hollow. There had to be another way—one that honored the hands that made our clothing, the materials they chose, and the time they invested.
We started seeking out forgotten pieces with stories to tell. Wool coats from the 1960s with hand-stitched linings. Canvas jackets worn smooth by years of honest work. Denim that earned its fades over decades, not weeks.
Each piece we found felt like a small rescue—garments that deserved to be worn again, not discarded. So we started restoring them: cleaning, repairing, and preparing them for their next chapter.
What We Believe

Every piece we restore is built to last. We choose garments made from natural materials—wool, cotton, leather, canvas—because they age beautifully and can be repaired indefinitely.

We don't believe in making vintage look new. Instead, we honor the wear and patina that make each piece unique. We clean, repair what needs fixing, and preserve the character that tells a garment's story.

Shopping should be personal. That's why we encourage in-person appointments where you can try pieces on, ask questions, and leave with something that truly fits your life.
How We Work
Each garment goes through a careful restoration process before it joins our collection:
- Sourcing: We search estate sales, vintage markets, and archives for pieces with strong construction and timeless design.
- Inspection: Every garment is examined for damage, wear patterns, and structural integrity.
- Cleaning: Professional cleaning using gentle methods appropriate for vintage materials.
- Repair: Loose buttons tightened, small tears mended, worn areas reinforced—always preserving original character.
- Final Prep: Pressed, photographed, and cataloged with measurements and condition notes.
